Cheese and Cheesemakers
Melbourne Specialist Cheese Show 2009
| 26 August 2009 |
Last weekend I attended the Melbourne Specialist Cheese Show 2009. A great event in a wonderful location, the Palladium room at the Crown Plaza.
This was the chance to taste a good variety of Australian made cheese, with unlimited cheese tastings and five beer or wine tastings included in the entry ticket.
The cost of the ticket - 45$ - was not cheap, but with a great value for the cost. Moreover, with a ticket so high, there wasn't the usual crowd that you can find at similar exhibitions.
With about 20 cheesemakers, a relaxed atmosphere, good wines and good beers, that was a very pleasant afternoon, and we hade the occasion to chat with all cheesemakers, taste the various cheese and enjoy the show.
Not a perfect event, though. The level of some of the cheesemakers was questionable, but in any case the few good are worth the trip.
I'll talk about the various cheesemakers in other posts, but I cannot forget the superb products of the Red Hill Cheese, a joy for the palate!
